Amazon Web Services today announced a sweeping program to measure, manage, and report data on water usage for its data centers worldwide. The firm also pledged to become water positive by 2030.
Microsoft agreed to buy a massive amount of clean energy to power a data center in Ireland, making it the second biggest corporate power-purchase agreement deal so far this year.
The funds will source investments to harden the national power grid against natural disasters, while spurring innovation in renewable energy and electric-powered buildings and autos.
Investments in sustainable building methods increased 16% last year. These efforts may not be enough to counteract the carbon emissions from stead increases in construction worldwide.
