Cloud South has opened a colocation and disaster recovery facility in West Palm Beach, Florida, the company announced recently.
The 6,500 square-foot facility was originally designed and built by Global Crossing in 2003 and operated as a private data center until 2011. In 2011, the property was upgraded to serve as a public data center offering customers a fully redundant facility with one megawatt of IT capacity.
Cloud South offers space ranging from a single server to 3,000 square-feet of open floor space, with office space available. The center features A and B power distribution and complete UPS backup, andis designed to withstand a Category 5 hurricane.
"We are delighted that Cloud South has decided to do business here in West Palm Beach,” said Mayor Jeri Muoio. “High tech facilities and data centers provide quality jobs for our citizens and this company has made a significant investment in building improvements. At full capacity, this facility will hold between $3.6 million and $4.5 million worth of computer equipment, generating additional tax revenue to help stabilize our tax base.”
"The greatest attraction of Cloud South is that it is a world-class carrier neutral facility," says Cloud South General Manager Frank Caruso. "This means Cloud South customers can use whatever data carrier they choose." The company has installed fiber optics from the major service providers to accommodate customers who prefer to use their existing provider's services (AT&T, Level 3 and FPL).
