At the GigaOm Green:Net conference in March I moderated a panel on Green Data Centers, which examined the challenges and opportunities in data center energy efficiency. The panel featured Christina Page from Yahoo, Rich Lechner from IBM, Albert Esser from Dell, Robert Aldrich from Cisco Systems, and Ken Brill from The Uptime Institute. The discussion examined the best methods for data center operators to improve their energy efficiency, using renewable energy in data centers, the role of utilities, and the importance of monitoring and measuring energy use. This video runs about 42 minutes.
