iPhone Now Doubles as Web Server
A Japanese company has developed a new application that turns the Apple iPhone into a web server.

ReadWriteWeb reports that a Japanese company called FreeBit has developed a new application that turns the Apple iPhone into a web server. "Once the app is installed, PCs on the Internet can access the iPhone to upload or download files through a browser or they can use the webDAV protocol," writes Sarah Perez at RWW. "If the PC and the iPhone are on the same network, the PC can connect directly." It's currently available in Japan, but will be coming to the U.S. AppStore next month.We congratulate FreeBit for making it easier for sysadmins to lose their web server in a cab. Here's the big question: if your iPhone battery runs down, will there be an iFlywheel and iGenerator to keep your server online?
