IT infrastructure provider CyrusOne has appointed industry veteran Tesh Durvasula as its Chief Commercial Officer, the company said today. In his new post, Durvasula (pictured at right) will oversee strategy, marketing and sales for the company and be "a key member "of the executive management team at CyrusOne, a subsidiary of Cincinnati Bell (CBB) that has announced plans to go public through an initial public offering.

Durvasula's extensive management experience in the data center services sector through his experience in executive posts at QTS (Quality Technology Services) and Telx, among others. Durvasula's experience at Telx, which operated interconnection facilities in several key Internet hubs, may be particularly relevant as CyrusOne seeks to build its own interconnection business.

“We are very excited to have Tesh join our team," said Gary Wojtaszek, president and CEO of CyrusOne. "He is a well-regarded executive with broad experience in the data center and interconnection industries, with a proven track record of success. Adding Tesh’s leadership and experience to our team will accelerate achievement of CyrusOne’s goal of becoming the preferred global data center provider to the Fortune 1000."

Durvasula most recently he served as Chief Marketing and Business Officer at QTS, where he helped build the sales and marketing teams as the company expanded in Richmond, Atlanta and Santa Clara. Durvasula started his career as a vice president of Abovenet with responsibility for the company’s hosting business, and then co-founded NYC-Connect, a privately held data center and interconnection business based at 111 8th Avenue. After the NYC Connect data center and meet-me-room businesses were sold to Digital Realty Trust and Telx in 2007, Durvasula served as Chief Marketing Officer for Telx.

"I am excited to be joining such a dynamic organization like CyrusOne," said Durvasula. "CyrusOne’s successful business strategy of targeting the global Fortune 1000 is very unique and one that I believe is in the beginning stages of an outsourcing trend that will transform the Enterprise Data Center segment. The Massively Modular facilities that CyrusOne is constructing are far superior to what any Fortune 1000 company could build, and come at a significantly lower cost and with better efficiency.

"In addition, CyrusOne’s new statewide Internet exchange platform that is expected to be on-line at the end of the year, is a tremendous innovation that clearly highlights the convergence of the interconnection and data center industries and will bring the ‘power of the internet’ to our Enterprise customers," he added.
