Here’s our review of today’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:
nlyte and Skanska Partner. nlyte Software and Skanska's Mission Critical Center of Excellence announced a partnership that integrates nlyte’s innovative data center infrastructure management (DCIM) software into Skanska’s data center intelligence platform. With the nlyte DCIM solution within the Skanska solution the end user can reduce migration time and cost for new Skanska-built facilities by up to 50 percent, lower business risk and expense caused by downtime and catastrophic failure, and improve operational excellence and reduce total cost of ownership. “Skanska is a leader in the field of datacenter construction and nlyte Software in DCIM. It makes good commercial sense for them to work together,” said Andy Lawrence, research director at The 451 Group. “The integration of nlyte’s software with Skanska’s technology means that Skanska’s customers will have the precise information they need to more efficiently manage their day-to-day data center operations and optimize the use of power, cooling and space.”
SunGard selected by Energy Plus. Energy company Energy Plus Holdings LLC announced that it is adopting a hybrid cloud model for running production applications that utilizes both SunGard's Enterprise Cloud Services and existing managed services the company employs from SunGard. This model allows Energy Plus to move applications to the cloud at its own pace and easily scale its infrastructure on demand with the cloud as customer growth requires. The cloud platform will allow Energy Plus to serve customer growth and the addition of new products and services, with around 60 percent of all prospective customers engaging with them through its website. Another factor that contributed to Energy Plus' selection of SunGard was the SunGard Workforce Continuity offering. This feature provides Energy Plus employees with a workspace in the event that their facility is unavailable due to business disruption, such as power outage or natural disaster. "SunGard is allowing our IT team to focus on the core business of Energy Plus, instead of building out data center infrastructure," said Hugh Scott, CIO at Energy Plus. "We moved quickly from startup to more than 180,000 customers. Having an enterprise-grade cloud platform from a company skilled in supporting large organizations gives us confidence that we have the infrastructure available for continued rapid growth in coming years."
Hostway launches StillSecure Solutions. Hostway Corporation announced an expanded selection of data and network security solutions for customers through a partnership with StillSecure. Hostway has added eight new standard security packages ranging from economical multi-tenant options to solutions designed to support PCI compliance initiatives. In early 2012 Hostway will also extend their partnership with StillSecure for cloud security solution in both public and private cloud hosting. “Hostway requires a proven partner to deliver best-in-class managed security solutions for each of their critical segments – colo, dedicated, and cloud,” said Rajat Bhargava, President and CEO of StillSecure. “Our managed network security solutions are a perfect fit for Hostway because they are already auditor-approved and monitored continuously by our team of security experts. Such an enhanced security level will help Hostway address escalating concerns around network security much more effectively, as well as provide a solution set to customers that is comprehensive and cost effective.”
Data Foundry completes SSAE 16 Type II audit. Data Foundry announced that its Texas 1 and ADC data centers have successfully obtained a SOC 1 Type II unqualified opinion according to the guidelines of SSAE 16. Over a period of 6 months, independent auditors assessed Data Foundry’s policies, controls, and business processes leading to the completed audit. "We understand that it is important to our customers to be colocated within an SSAE 16 audited data center," states Shane Menking, President of Data Foundry. "Obtaining a SOC 1 Type II unqualified opinion according to the guidelines of SSAE 16 for both our Texas 1 and ADC data centers affirms Data Foundry’s commitment to maintaining the highest industry standards."
