Diversified Agency Services (DAS)  recently began a major consolidation of the IT infrastructure supporting more than 100 agencies within the Omnicom family of companies. After evaluating a number of options, DAS decided to house its updated IT gear in modular data centers housed at the huge IO Phoenix facility. DAS has created a series of videos documenting its process including one that takes viewers inside the IO Phoenix facility.

In the most recent installment, DAS Senior Director of Operations Casey Whiteley and Data Center Technician Neil Aschliman provide a comparison of the two phases of the IO Phoenix data center - with phase 1 housing traditional raised-floor data center space in an open floor environment, and phase 2 containing IO Anywhere modules. As they walk from one section of the data center to another, it provides an interesting visual illustration of the options faced by data center operators as modular design becomes a part of more site selection processes. See the DAS Networking Journey web site for the video.
