Microsoft has completed its massive new data center in San Antonio, and will hold an official opening ceremony on Monday.

Microsoft has completed its massive new data center in San Antonio, and will hold an official opening ceremony on Monday. Microsoft (MSFT) broke ground on the $550 million project on July 30, 2007, meaning it completed the 400,000-plus facility in about 13 months.

The Microsoft facility has been a major shot in the arm for San Antonio, helping the  Westover Hills area develop into a significant data center hub. was announced in January, and has been followed by the announcements of data center projects by the National Security Agency, Stream Realty, Christus Health Systems, Valero Energy, Frost Bank and Power Loft.
