(FIGI), a provider of engineering and construction management services for mission-critical facilities, has been awarded a $16 million design-build contract with a multi-billion dollar, privately held staffing solutions company. "We have performed a variety of work for this customer over the last two years, but this is the first project of such magnitude," said Thomas Rosato, Fortress' CEO. "This contract represents the first phase of a multi-stage build for this customer, and we believe that this win positions the company well to secure additional business as they expand the project." Fortress began engineering work on this Maryland-based project in early May. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2012.
Cavern Technologies Completes KC Data Center Expansion - Cavern Technologies, which operates underground "data bunker" facilities, has completed an expansion of its data center in the Kansas City data area. This phase of the expansion added 16 additional private data suites, with additional expansions to follow. Platform Equinix Expands Capacity in Brazil - Colocation provider Equinix.(EQIX) announced that its ALOG Data Centers subsidiary has opened its third International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Brazil. Located in Tamboré, the new data center (SP2) is ALOG’s second facility in the São Paulo metropolitan area. ALOG also operates a data center in Rio de Janeiro. Today’s opening is the first phase of the build-out of SP2 and provides approximately 400 cabinet equivalents, with the ability to expand by as much as 1,200 cabinet equivalents. ALOG is one of the leading carrier-neutral data center providers in Brazil and serves approximately 1,000 local and international customers. Equinix and Riverwood Capital completed the acquisition of ALOG in April 2011.
