Active Power (ACPW) continues to advance the merits of flywheels in data center uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems. The company recently released a white paper featuring third-party tests showing that its flywheels were more energy-efficient at lower power loads than competing battery-based systems. Active Power is also working closely with HP on data center expansion projects combining the HP POD container with its PowerHouse, Active Power's container that houses a diesel generator, flywheel UPS and switchgear. In this demo from last month's HP Technology Forum in Las Vegas, Active Power's Martin Olsen provides a tour of the PowerHouse. This video runs about 7 minutes.
