Intel Leverages Russian Winter for Free Cooling

Cool air is essential for data centers using air economization, which uses air from outside the data center to cool the servers. Intel has cool air to spare in its largest data center in Russia, which houses about 1,000 servers to support its IT staff in that country. So Intel uses the external cold air to cool the data center during the Russian winter, and uses the waste heat from servers to warm the office area. In this video, Intel data center manager Leonid Shishlov provides a tour of the facility. It runs about 3 minutes.
