StrataScale this week announced an expansion of its cloud computing suite to include private cloud and hybrid cloud offerings. StrataScale also introduced a new management portal that automates the ordering and provisioning of cloud assets.

The services, which will launch April 1, build on StrataScale's Automated Managed Hosting offering, which was introduced in late 2008 as IronScale and has since been rebranded. The service has about 40 customers with more than 200 servers.

StrataScale's Public Cloud service will offer virtual servers starting at $44.99 for a CentOS-based server, with RedHat Linux and Windows Server available for additonal monthly fees. The new Private Cloud hosting offers as many VMs as a customer desires for $699 a month per dedicated server. The hybrid offering provides a combination of traditional managed hosting connected to a public cloud.

Hybrid Cloud customers can run Public Cloud, Private Cloud, and Automated Managed Hosting servers all on the same network, managed through the updated StrataScale portal.

"The combination of traditional and cloud infrastructure is going to be a staple of the market for the foreseeable future,” said Antonio Piraino, vice president and research director at Tier1 Research. “Hosting providers like StrataScale, that work on enabling administrators to manage and provision their server environments through a single pane of glass will be solving a problem that has long frustrated and hindered integrated operations; and will make it a leading choice for IT operations staff.”

StrataScale said it hosts its cloud offerings on "enterprise-grade" servers housed in a data center operated by its parent company, RagingWire Enterprise Solution. "Our cloud offerings have been repeatedly tested to ensure the optimum experience for our customer base,” said Yatish Mishra, founder, president and chief technology officer of StrataScale. "We listened to our customers’ needs and took the time to build each product line with the finest components available."
