Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the cloud computing sector:

Cotendo Introduces CloudLet Platform. Content delivery specialist Cotendo announced the availability of its new CloudLet Platform, the world's first fully customizable, high-performance and globally distributed cloud application environment.  Cotendo enables mobile and wired content providers to extend their business logic to the edge of the network with their CDN integrated cloud application environment. Working with their Dynamic Site Acceleration (DSA) service Cotendo’s other service offerings include Advanced DNS services (for highly intelligent traffic routing), CDN load balancing (for management of multiple CDNs) and Site Assure content delivery monitoring service.

Joyent announces partnerships.  Joyent announced a strategic partnership with OpenStorage solutions provider Nexenta Systems.  The partnership provides Service Providers with an end-to-end cloud services and storage solution that is unattainable by Amazon and other legacy cloud providers. With the partnership agreement, Joyent’s SmartDataCenter 6, an integrated suite of software and services, and Nexenta’s NexentaStor, the world’s leading open storage solution that provides enterprise grade features like de-duplication, thin-provisioning, compression, unlimited scalability, inherent virtualization and data protection, come together to deliver a turnkey offering to Service Providers. Joyent also announced a strategic alliance agreement with Taiwanese company MiTAC Information Corp. where the two companies will cooperate to develop and deliver cloud computing services and solutions for ICT (Information and Communication Technology) system integration projects in Taiwan and the greater Asian market. "Together, MiTAC and Joyent will provide the most powerful, flexible, and reliable cloud software and services to enterprise customers and service providers throughout Asia,” stated David Young, Joyent CEO.

DataDirect introduces NAS Scaler.  DataDirect Networks announced NAS Scaler, a highly scalable multi-protocol network attached storage (NAS) solution, designed for high-growth cloud service providers, unstructured data, and machine-generated data sets. “This supernova of data creation we are living in is putting significant strains on IT managers and their budgets, making it a must to deploy better and more efficient storage solutions for cloud and content,” says Alex Bouzari, DDN CEO and co-founder. “With DDN’s NAS Scaler, organizations can finally manage this massive data growth with the most efficient storage density, performance and power consumption attributes in the industry without ever over-provisioning.” The NAS Scaler also supports multi-dimensional performance, dynamic storage tiering, enterprise data management and up to 600 hard drives in a single data center rack.
