It's been a good week for the Chicago data center market. In addition to Hostway's new facility, Digital Realty Trust announced that web hosting provider Steadfast Networks is expanding into a new data center in the Lakeside Technology Center. The facility is expected to be operational this month, according to a release from Digital Realty.

Steadfast Networks provides shared hosting and dedicated servers, and will use the additional space to accommodate growth. The back-to-back announcements of new data centers for growing web hosting companies looks to be an indicator of strong demand in the Chicago area market.

"Steadfast Networks chose our facility because it meets all of its technical and financial needs," said Michael Foust, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Realty Trust. "Lakeside Technology Center is one of the premier datacenter and telecommunications facilities in the world, and it is the clear choice for companies in the Midwestern U.S. that require technology real estate to support their business."

The Lakeside Technology Center features over 1 million square feet of rentable space in a carrier-neutral environment that provides corporate customers a wide range of telecommunications options. Digital Realty Trust owns 44 properties spanning approximately 8.0 million net rentable square feet.
