Schooner Information Technology is a Sunnyvale, Calif. company that focuses on boosting the performance and efficiency of applications using MySQL and/or memcached caching. Schooner combines Flash memory, multi-core processors and architecture refinements to deliver improvements in performance and efficiency. Schooner's solution is delivered via a server appliance, with separate appliances for MySQL and memcached. At the recent O'Reilly Velocity 2010 conference, we spoke with Schooner founder and CTO Dr. John Busch, who discussed the company's history and the problems its technology seeks to address.
