Here's our review of some of this week's noteworthy links for the data center industry:

Sidera Delivers Unique Path Between NY and Ashburn - Sidera Networks has enhanced its Transcom Route, which runs from New York to Washington, DC, to include a diverse path to its Ashburn, Va. data center fiber ring via Frederick, Md., bypassing downtown Washington, DC. The result is a unique and completely diverse path from traditional fiber routes along the I-95 corridor. This is welcome news for large financial, enterprise and carrier customers who wish to bypass major congestion points on the I-95 corridor in support of important data center, disaster recovery, and cloud application requirements. “Over the last couple of months, Sidera has been systematically connecting to all of the major data centers in the Ashburn area – one of the largest Internet content distribution points in the world and a major disaster recovery location for our financial services customers,” said Clint Heiden, President, Sidera Networks. “Many of our customers are looking for a means to enhance network diversity and bypass Washington, DC and the I-95 corridor. Sidera is in a unique position, with sole ownership of its Transcom Route, to deliver on this requirement.” From press release.

Carpathia Says Q1 2012 is Best Growth Quarter Yet - Carpathia Hosting, a provider of managed hosting services for government agencies and enterprises, announced Q1 2012 as its most successful growth quarter to date due to numerous major customer wins, a global data center and office expansion and the groundbreaking of the new IBX Vault in Dulles, Va. "We had an amazing first quarter of growth at Carpathia Hosting, further reinforcing the strong demand for our services globally," said Peter Weber, CEO of Carpathia Hosting. "I could not be more thrilled that our customers continue to drive our growth in all aspects of our business. The combination of our highest sales quarter ever, global expansion in Europe and Asia Pacific and groundbreaking for our new IBX Vault data center in Northern Virginia provides an excellent platform for continued growth in 2012." From press release.

Syska Hennessy Relaunches ICT Practice - Engineering firm Syska Hennessy Group, Inc. has re-launched its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) practice, the company said this week. Traditionally, this practice was a blend of individual services, and as those services have converged, Syska has organized its practices to create a fluid service where by each component can be managed and served from a single point. In addition to traditional infrastructure services, new expertise will include a wide-range of strategic and consulting capabilities. From press release.

DataChambers Earns Extension from Charlotte Pipe - North Carolina IT firm DataChambersit has earned a five-year contract extension from Charlotte Pipe, the nation’s leading maker of cast iron and plastic pipes and fittings. Under the terms of the agreement, DataChambers will host a disaster recovery data center for Charlotte Pipe through 2016. Charlotte Pipe made the move to DataChambers in 2009 to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of a network or a system failure. “Based on the service and support we’ve received and the significant improvements we’ve seen in uptime and performance, there was a compelling case to be made for extending our contract with DataChambers over a significantly longer term,” says Cam Faison, CIO for Charlotte Pipe. “We’re able to take advantage of a quality data center environment at an affordable rate, backed by a highly responsive team of professionals.” From press release.
