Aperture Technologies Inc., a data center management software specialist, has acquired The Advantage Group (TAG), which makes infrastructure monitoring solutions, the companies said today. The sale price was not disclosed.

The acquisition allows Aperture to extend the monitoring capabilities of its VISTA infrastructure management software, which will integrate The Advantage Group's flagship product, Enterprise Device Manager. While VISTA helps plan and manage changes to the data center infrastructure, TAG Enterprise monitors the actual environment through automated processes, allowing for vendor-independent real-time monitoring of key infrastructure, including alarm processing and event logging.

"This strategic acquisition allows us to provide our customers with the only complete, end-to-end software solution that supports every aspect of data center management; from planning for new equipment and assessing its impact on the data center infrastructure, through the entire lifecycle of provisioning, installation, management, and decommissioning of physical assets," said Bill Clifford, chairman and CEO of Aperture Technologies.

"As a result of this acquisition, customers will now be able to cross-check power usage profiles against a plan to ensure equipment is operating as expected," said David Cole, president and senior software architect of The Advantage Group. "If it is not, the plan can be readjusted. The state of the art monitoring that we can provide will deliver a true competitive advantage to our customers by allowing them to manage their data centers for maximum operational and cost efficiency."

Aperture is a leading global provider of software for managing the physical infrastructure of data centers. Aperture's customers include the world's largest companies, half of which are Fortune 1000 and Global 500 organizations.
