Cisco Systems has released a video overview of its new data center in Raleigh, North Carolina. The video discusses the multi-purpose nature of the facility, which can be converted from application development to disaster recovery. It also reviews Cisco's use of solar panels, 415/240V power distribution, variable frequency drives in cooling equipment, a water-side economizer, and the reuse of waste heat from servers. There's one feature I've never seen before on which the video is silent: the zebra stripes on the slab floor. This video runs about 3 minutes.
