Serverfarm Is Building 10MW Data Center in Israel

The company’s first facility and venture in the Middle East.

Colocation provider Serverfarm is set to arrive in the Middle East, with a 10MW data center located in the innovation hub of Tel Aviv.

The facility codenamed ISR3 is being developed in partnership with Israel Infrastructure Fund and is expected to open in the second half of 2022.

“As leading tech and hyperscale organizations continue to expand into Israel and across the Middle East, we see an opportunity to leverage our expertise and deep roots in this region,” said Avner Papouchado, founder and CEO of Serverfarm.

“With the launch of ISR3, we’re bringing world-class multi-tenant data centers to Israel, allowing organizations to rapidly tap into this growing region and innovate at scale.”

Startup nation

Serverfarm has points of presence in more than 700 locations in 45 countries, with major data centers in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Toronto, Amsterdam and London. Its most unusual data center is located near Moses Lake, in a building once used as a command center for the US Titan missile defense program and designed to withstand a 10 Megaton detonation a quarter of a mile away.

The upcoming facility in North Tel Aviv is less exciting: it will offer 100,000 square feet of indoor space, four data halls, and up to 10MW of power capacity, according to the website (the press release states 9MW).

Besides colocation services, Serverfarm will be selling InCommand, its proprietary data center management as-a-service platform that provides remote access to customers’ mission-critical infrastructure and data center assets. The subscription includes a fully managed network operations center, enabling consolidated alerts and alarms and overseen by trained data center experts.
