The Internet of Things should have a much larger acronym. Three letters, ‘IoT’ are not expansive enough to represent the data surge that has started. One of the IoT ‘things’ expected to be generally available in about 10 years is the self-driving car. Today the average household generates about 240 Gigabytes of network traffic per month. The average self-driving car is expected to produce 4,000 Gigabytes of data per day! Where is all that data going to go?
Our networks are already dealing with huge amounts of data now. We need to move it, analyze it, share it. These same networks that we all use will need to soon also support the tremendous influx of data coming from IoT.
There are options that can make this cheaper and easier (and survivable), depending on where that data is generated and stored. Join Flexential’s Tim Parker and 451 Research’s Kelly Morgan in this webinar discussing examples of companies using facilities at “the edge” to manage the impact of IoT and get the most from your data without breaking the bank.
