Datapipe Expands UK Data Center Footprint

Managed hosting provider Datapipe has expanded its presence in the UK, adding 8,000 square feet of high-density data center space at the Global Switch facility in the Docklands in London, bringing Datapipe’s total space at the facility to 15,000 square feet. The company has also added a second facility in Slough, which can serve as either a primary data center or a disaster recovery (DR) site for companies housing their infrastructure at the Docklands facility.

“Our presence in the UK is a critical element of our global reach,” said Datapipe CEO, Robb Allen. “This expansion enhances our ability to deliver services to customers in this important technical and financial market.”

The UK expansion is the latest expansion in a period of significant global growth for Datapipe. The company said that its overall revenue growth in the second quarter of 2011 was equal to the total growth the company experienced in all of 2009.

The expansions at Datapipe have been funded by $176 million in equity and credit financing led by ABRY Partners & TD Securities. In addition to the UK expansion, Datapipe will significantly expand its San Jose, Calif. and Hong Kong capacity and double its capacity of Somerset Two, its New Jersey data center that opened in May of 2010.

Datapipe is based in Jersey City, NJ, and provides managed services to enterprise companies, with many customers in the financial services and pharmaceutical industries. The company has more than 1,500 customers in six data centers and eight office locations in the United States, the United Kingdom, and China.
