QTS Opens Expansion Space in Santa Clara
Data center and managed hosting provider QTS (Quality Technology Services) has completed the first phase of a new 70,000-square-foot data center on its Santa Clara campus. The new building will effectively double the square footage available from QTS in the Silicon Valley market.
The original QTS Santa Clara building featured 39,510 square feet of raised floor space. The completion of the first phase of the new data center has increased the raised floor capacity by 12,000 square feet and includes 1.8 MW of additional power capacity, for a current total of 5 MW on the QTS campus. Additional build-outs will occur as new clients fill the space and utilize power.
“By doubling our West Coast footprint, QTS is able to accommodate both domestic and international customers,” said Chad Williams, chief executive officer – QTS. “These measured increases in power capacity and space allow us to efficiently provide customized IT infrastructure in a burgeoning geographic market and position QTS for additional growth in the region and globally.”
QTS is one of a handful of data center providers bringing new space online in Santa Clara this year. Others include Digital Realty Trust, DuPont Fabros, CoreSite, Vantage Data Centers and Server Farm Realty.
QTS has built a network of 12 data center facilities in seven states spanning more than 3.1 million square feet of space, growing through acquisitions of facilities and customers from eDeltaCom, IBM, NTT America and Globix. The company offers both wholesale data center space and managed services.
