Dell launches healthcare cloud services. Dell announced several cloud-based services to simplify information access and sharing from the point of care to the data center and business office for more efficient healthcare. From the recent acquisition of InSite One, Dell is unveiling Archiving-as-a-Service, where Dell's Unified Clinical Archiving (UCA) solution is available through a private cloud. In collaboration with Microsoft, Dell has developed a subscription-based analytics, informatics and Business Intelligence solution that will provide community hospitals with a consolidated view of patient information, to help compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. For Platform-as-a-Service Dell’s MSite solution gives hospitals using MEDITECH access to the Health Care Information System (HCIS) software through the cloud. Dell's EMR solution is a hosted private cloud for over 40,000 clinicians. "The cloud puts the emphasis where it should be for every medical professional and medical facility - using information to care for patients and using information to improve the way we care for them," said Dr. John Halamka, CIO Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Dell Healthcare and Life Sciences Advisory Board member. "Small practices want to care for patients, not manage servers. The cloud empowers clinicians with low cost, high reliability solutions, enabling doctors to focus on the patient and not on the hardware in their office."
Riverbed deployed by Silver Atena Implements. Riverbed (RVBD) announced that Silver Atena, an international engineering company, has deployed Riverbed Steelhead appliances and the Riverbed Services Platform (RSP) across its organization. As a result of the deployment of Steelhead appliances and RSP in five offices Silver Atena has experienced a 4.5x reduction in bandwidth utilization and consolidated its mission-critical applications to the data center. "After a rigorous review of WAN optimization alternatives, we chose Riverbed because no other vendor could come close to their level of functionality," said Rudolf Labermeier, IT infrastructure manager, Silver Atena. Riverbed also announced SHARKFEST '11, its fourth annual educational and training conference with the purpose of bringing together users of Wireshark and the developers of Wireshark and other network related open source tools.
Cariden selected by Cox Communications. Cariden Technologies, a software company serving telecommunications providers, announced that Cox Communications has selected its MATE Planning Tool as its primary network engineering tool for supporting critical data management functions of day-to-day operations. MATE was selected because of its unique ability to support planning, engineering, and operational workflows with unmatched visibility into the network. Cariden MATE is being used to analyze and confirm that existing and proposed network designs can withstand a variety of network component failures without causing any impact to client services. Torryon Coleman, Director of Technical Operations for Cox, said "our operations team now has the ability to see, in a very organized manner, all our network interface and LSP statistics in real time. With this information we can isolate and react to problems much quicker than before, as well as be proactive in many circumstances to potential or upcoming problems."
