We’re familiar with the phrase “cloud-native,” perhaps enough now to consider it stretched about as thinly as streusel batter. It doesn’t mean any application that lives in the cloud. It means a workload designed to run on a cloud platform, often created on the same platform where it will run. Kubernetes is a project of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, which is the part of the Linux Foundation working on issues around such workloads.
