Here’s a roundup of some of some of this week’s headlines from the data center and hosting industry:

Layered Tech launches cloud storage solution. Layered Technologies launched a new cloud storage solution called LT Depot, which is powered by the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform. The LT Depot application allows users connect to cloud storage and have data encrypted both in transit and storage in order to meet compliance requirements.  “LT Depot is our latest strategic advancement and our most complete and flexible cloud storage solution to date," said Terrance Bush, COO and CIO of Layered Tech."By leveraging the Mezeo Cloud Storage Platform, we can give our customers a massively scalable, highly secure and reliable cloud storage technology that supports file sharing, collaboration and other needs."

XO Communications launches 40 Gbps network. XO Communications (XOHO) announced the availability of 40 gigabits per second (Gbps) network services in all major metropolitan markets the company serves across the United States. New capabilities include 40 Gbps wavelength services that allow a single 40 Gbps link between two locations and 40 Gbps IP transit services to aggregate large volumes of Internet traffic over a single connection. The new capabilities are designed to meet growing demand for ultra high-bandwidth and low latency network connectivity by enterprise and wholesale customers.

Force 10 selected by The Energy. Force 10 Networks announced that The Energy, a 43-story office building in Jakarta, Indonesia, has selected Force10 TeraScale core switch/routers and S-Series access switches to power the building's new network infrastructure.  “To satisfy differing levels of services among its tenants, The Energy will leverage the non-blocking, line-rate throughput, scalability and redundancy of the E-Series E1200 and S-Series to give their IT staff the tools needed to create greater data center efficiency and improved total cost of ownership," said Steve Garrison, vice president of marketing at Force10.  The Energy building's solution involved using the TeraScale E1200 and S50 switch.  The E1200 will scale with the growing number of tenants in the building, as it allows for up to 1,260 GbE and 224 10GbE ports per chassis with access control lists on all ports.
