Arbor Networks introduces Peakflow 5.6. Arbor Networks announced the availability of version 5.6 of Arbor Peakflow SP, their network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform. The Peakflow SP platform consists of a Threat Management System and Peakflow SP, a security and traffic-monitoring platform. The new version enables the capability to mitigate attacks over IPv6 and will allow operators to establish accurate mitigation thresholds, automate the configuration of large deployments, provide for more customer control of managed services and have expanded reporting and router support. “As IPv6 connectivity, applications and increased traffic are introduced into operator networks, IPv6 threats, attacks and network security breaches become more prevalent," said Becky Watson, principal analyst with Frost & Sullivan. "This increase, combined with a dual IPv4/ IPv6 environment, brings more complexity to operator networks. Arbor's new Peakflow SP 5.6 release builds on its current IPv4 strengths while addressing IPv6 security issues and enabling more visibility and automation to reduce complexities in network management.” Another important new capability recently introduced by Arbor is Cloud Signaling, a protocol that bridges the gap between the data center edge and the provider cloud.
Juniper selected by China Internet TV company. Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that Youku.com (YOKU), China's leading Internet television company, has deployed a new Juniper-based Ethernet switching infrastructure running on the Junos operating system in its data center and Content Delivery Network caching points across the country. Youku will use the Juniper EX Series Ethernet switches with Virtual Chassis fabric technology to collapse internal and external networks and create a simplified two-layer network architecture. "In assessing our options for new switching infrastructure, the Juniper Networks EX Series switches stood out for delivering wire-speed performance, tremendous scalability and excellent stability in a compact footprint," said Jian Yao, chief technology officer of Youku. "With a single operating system running all switches and the use of Virtual Chassis fabric technology, we can keep expanding the data center without having to expand our network management overhead."
ABRY to acquire Masergy Communications. Masergy Communications announced that they have entered into a definitive merger agreement with an affiliate of ABRY Partners, LLC to purchase 100 percent of the existing equity of Masergy for an undisclosed price. The acquisition will give management at Masergy access to new capital from ABRY and enable continued growth. Masergy provides managed, virtualized network services to enterprises.“We are strong believers in the global information technology and emerging cloud services market and are excited to be participating in it through our acquisition of Masergy.” said Blake Battaglia, Partner at ABRY Partners. “Masergy, with its talented management team, has built a highly scalable business with a diversified blue chip customer base.
