UPS Rumble: APC, Eaton, Emerson, Active Power

Did you ever wish that data center uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units could arm wrestle? Well, they can't. But never fear: for folks interested in comparing the features of UPS offerings from leading vendors, we present the UPS Video Rumble! Here are the entrants:

APC By Schneider
APC's Mark Tarantelli provides a demo and overview of the Symmetra PX 250/500kW UPS, which was on display at last year at the Gartner Data Center Conference in Las Vegas. This video runs about 8 minutes, 30 seconds.

Eaton Corp.
Last fall Eaton Corp. introduced an 1100 kVA version of its Eaton 9395 UPS (uninterruptible power supply) system for data centers. In this video, Pedro Robredo, the product line manager for Eaton's 3-phase power unit, discusses the features of the new UPS model. This video is about 2 minutes, 30 seconds.

Active Power
In this video, Martin Olsen of Active Power gives a brief demonstration of his company's flywheel UPS systems, in this case a 300 kva unit. This video runs about 2 minutes, 30 seconds.

Emerson Network Power (Liebert)
In this video, Emerson Network Power Senior product manager Rich Zajkowski discusses the Liebert NX On-Line UPS with Softscale technology for growing data centers. The UPS allows growth from 40 to 60 to 80 kVA, and from 80 to 100 to 120 kVA. The UPS may also be paralleled for additional capacity or for redundant operation.
