Today, many data center managers are doing a good job conserving energy – decreasing PUE by safely raising data center temperatures, using air-side economizers to reduce cooling energy consumption, and other measures – but average power consumption at the rack is still going up.
Although the increase in efficiency means more power is available to support data center growth, data centers are finding that they must deploy more and more power to their racks. Why is this happening?
Data center managers are deploying more and more power to their IT equipment racks to keep up with power-hungry devices. For example, the latest AFCOM State of the Data Center Industry report indicates that the majority (70%) report that rack density has increased in the past three years, including 21% who say it has increased significantly. Furthermore, new solutions around edge are creating greater levels of density and power requirements. As the State of the Data Center Industry report shows, the estimated mean average power density in edge compute deployments is 6.7kW per rack, and growing.
So here's the big challenge: in the digital age of the data center, how are leading IT organizations managing and monitoring their infrastructure to keep up with demand? Most of all, how are they injecting intelligence and greater levels of efficiency? In this webinar, we're going to discuss the big changes happening within your data center. Furthermore, we'll cover new solutions that help keep an eye on data center infrastructure, support growth, and how you can monitor and control it all from anywhere.
Specifically, we'll cover:
- Key evolving trends around the modern data center
- Major challenges facing IT leaders when it comes to properly monitoring and controlling resources
- Understanding new solutions aimed at reducing complexity while improving data center and infrastructure visibility and efficiency
- Best practices for future-proofing IT infrastructures
