While FNT’s headquarters are located in Ellwangen, Germany, it operates internationally with subsidiaries in the United States (Parsippany, NJ), Singapore, Dubai (UAE) and Russia (Moscow). FNT cooperates in close partnerships with well-known IT service providers and system integrators worldwide. Its standard software, FNT Command, is used worldwide as a DCIM and IT management application for communications service providers, enterprises, data centers and governmental organizations by more than 25,000 users since 1994.
In looking at FNT’s DCIM platform, its products are user-friendly, web-based, and able to support multiple-tenant and multilingual environments. FNT’s software has been used by large enterprises and data centers for more than 20 years and was originally developed as a solution for IT infrastructure and network management for IT service providers and cable network operators.
More than half of Germany’s DAX 30 companies use FNT software to plan, document and manage their infrastructure. Because of these large customers, FNT developed a sophisticated data model in one central database that integrates all CIs, IT assets and data center assets, such as locations, buildings, rooms, power and cooling assets, physical network, IT assets, racks, server, virtualized server, applications and services. When dealing with big companies, it is important to have open connectivity to all other IT systems that are in use (such as auto-discovery tools, IP management tools, EAM tools etc.). Therefore, FNT provides an open connectivity layer and integrated ETL-software for maintenance of all interfaces that are used. Some customers have more than 200 interfaces exchanging IT infrastructure data with FNT Command from other software tools within their IT landscape.
FNT’s DCIM-specific extension provides capabilities such as, monitoring, alarming and dashboarding; integrated asset and lifecycle management; and IMAC workflow. Capacity management as well as power and cooling management were introduced in June 2010 and has been enhanced continuously since its first release. Today, FNT provides a fully integrated DCIM solution with many DCSO capabilities.
Founded by Nikolaus Albrecht and Horst Haag, who still lead the owner-run company today as managing directors, FNT is a pure software vendor with 240 employees and a great innovation history. All products have been developed in close cooperation with customers and based on market needs.
Most of FNT’s customers have to manage complex infrastructures and IT landscapes across a range of industries, including the automotive field (BMW, Audi, Volkswagen, Daimler, Porsche etc.); 8 of Germany’s 10 largest banks (Commerzbank, Deutsche Bank, German Stock Exchange, Finanzinformatik etc.) and many financial institutions; plus, 7 of Germany’s 10 largest airports (Frankfurt Airport, Munich Airport etc.).
Worldwide, more than 220,000 data center racks are managed in data centers and IT Infrastructures using FNT software.
“Data center managers and IT managers who want to be prepared for the future must be able to trust in the accurate and universal documentation of their IT landscape and data center infrastructure,” said Nikolaus Albrecht, CEO of FNT. “Based on our comprehensive data model and the unified management approach, including all areas of modern IT landscapes, enterprises can be confident that software from FNT is providing the right tools and be prepared for the upcoming digital transformation.”
