Cyrus One Will Build 48 Megawatt Facility in Northern Virginia - Data center service provider CyrusOne will build a 420,000 square foot, 48 megawatt data center in northern Virginia, the company confirmed today. CyrusOne recently purchased 14 acres of land in Sterling, Virginia, which will serve as the campus for its first East Coast data center.

Equinix to Host BATS Exchange in Secaucus Trading Hub - Equinix will soon host a key trading exchange from BATS Global Markets in its NY5 data center in Secaucus, N.J., the companies said Wednesday. BATS, the second-largest U.S. stock exchange, currently hosts its infrastructure in the CenturyLink Technnology (Savvis) NJ2 data center in Weehawken, New Jersey.

Intel Launches Hadoop-Powered Big Data Platform - Expanding its investment in a growing a big data portfolio Intel (INTC) launched the Intel Data Platform, a software suite based on open source technologies designed to make it easier and faster for companies to move from big data to big discoveries. Built on the Intel distribution of Apache Hadoop, the new platform features several new data processing capabilities.

Dell, HP, Cisco Roll Out New Servers Powered by Intel Xeon E7 v2 - As Intel rolled out its new Xeon E7 v2 processors, leading IT vendors promptly announced updated servers integrating the new chips, which support in-memory technology for improved analytics support. Here’s a look at the new offerings from HP, Dell and Cisco.

Apple Expanding Its North Carolina iDataCenter - Apple is preparing to expand its data center campus in Maiden, North Carolina, which supports the delivery of content for its iTunes and iCloud services. Apple has filed plans with Catawba County to add a “tactical data center” to its campus in Maiden, according to local media.
