Video: Canonical Founder Speaks on Building Business Value Through Interoperability

Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu and Canonical, gives a keynote address at the recent OpenStack conference in Hong Kong, where he live demonstrates building a cloud.

Mark Shuttleworth, founder of Ubuntu Linux and of Canonical, gives a keynote address at the recent OpenStack conference in Hong Kong. With a member of the audience, he performs a live demo of cloud building.

He says his point was to demonstrate what is possible with the current code from OpenStack. A few facts on Ubuntu: it's the operating system base for 80 percent of OpenStack clouds, it's the number 1 guest version of Linux on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft's Azure and HP's Cloud, and it is now the leading platform for large scale websites. Canonical has been a key player in the OpenStack community and foundation since its start. Shuttleworth discusses the advances in interoperability, enabling organizations to get greater value from their OpenStack cloud faster and more easily than ever before. The video runs about 29 minutes. For more video presentations from the Hong Kong summit, see OpenStack Foundation website.
