Colocation and interconnection provider Telx
this week announced plans to enter the Seattle market, taking space in a facility operated by Sabey Data Centers
, the leading data center developer in the Pacific Northwest.
The new Telx facility, known as SEA-1, is the company’s 18th Cloud Connection Center and will be located in building #4 on Sabey’s Intergate.Seattle-East campus facility in Seattle, Washington. Intergate.Seattle provides clients access not only to the city’s primary carrier hotel, the Westin Building, but also provides for direct access to major national and regional carriers as well as to SIX Seattle’s Internet Exchange for peering.
“Today’s announcement marks a significant expansion for Telx as we further solidify our West Coast presence and national portfolio of high-quality data centers,” said Chris Downie, President and CFO of Telx. “The growing importance of the Seattle market for customers doing business in-region and as a launching point for Asia makes it an important strategic investment for our long term growth strategy. We are pleased to join in partnership with Sabey on this exciting endeavor. Working with a prestigious and reputable company such as Sabey at such a key location will help our clients expand and deliver applications and services throughout the Northwest.”
SEA1 is a fully-conditioned data center with an estimated $110 million of investment to date, comprising 114,000 gross square feet and 54,000 square feet of available white space. The facility offers 9 megawatts of power and is expandable by leveraging additional power capacity on campus. Telx said it will invest “substantial additional capital” into the facility, which will be optimized for cabinets with power densities between 5 kW and 15kW.
“Establishing this relationship with Telx at our Intergate facility in Seattle combines our best-in class property with one of the leading retail colocation providers in the country,’ said John Sabey, President, Sabey Data Centers. “Telx’s impressive array of interconnection services and client roster is a welcome addition to our Intergate facility and we look forward to working with them to expand this ecosystem in Seattle.”
