Cloud roundup: Citrix (CTXS) invests in cloud platform providerCumuLogic, Dell adds Ramco ERP-as-a-Service. IBM Cloud selected by Toyota Boshoku.

Here’s a roundup of some of this week’s headlines from the cloud computing sector:

Citrix invests in CumuLogic.  Citrix (CTXS)  announced an investment in CumuLogic, a Cloud Application Platform software provider that enables enterprises, cloud providers and ISVs to develop and deploy Java applications in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.  Assisted from the Citrix Startup Accelerator CumuLogic was selected for its unique ability to bridge between traditional datacenters and clouds at the application level. By transforming virtualized environments and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds into  a high-value Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud, CumuLogic technology simplifies the development, deployment and runtime management of mobile, web and enterprise applications in public, private and hybrid clouds. “We recently recognized CumuLogic as one of the first Citrix CloudPlatform partners to be verified as Citrix Ready, and we are pleased to further extend this relationship with funding via our Citrix Startup Accelerator program," said Peder Ulander, VP of Product Marketing, Cloud Platform Group, Citrix. "We believe that Platform-as-a-Service is a key element in driving greater cloud ROI for our customers, and we continue to see this market maturing further each year. Citrix CloudPlatform, powered by ApacheCloudStack, powers clouds of all shapes and sizes, and it’s the innovation from startups like this that will help continue moving cloud adoption forward.”

Dell adds Ramco ERP-as-a-Service. Dell announced its strategic alliance with Ramco Systems to deliver Ramco’s ERP-as-a-service on Cloud to help midmarket businesses execute cost and operational efficiencies and accelerate revenue growth. The ERP on Cloud solutions supports a variety of business functions across many industries, and is designed to ensure quick adoption and time-to-value. “Ramco has strong expertise and a successful track record of delivering ERP-as-a-service on Cloud for the midmarket, particularly in emerging markets like India and the Middle East,” said Suresh Vaswani, Executive Vice President and Global Head, Applications & BPO, Dell Services and Chairman, Dell India. “This partnership resonates with Dell’s focus and strategy to create solutions for scale using our midmarket design philosophy and reiterates our commitment to our midmarket customers globally.”

IBM Cloud selected by Toyota Boshoku.  IBM announced that Toyota Boshoku will use IBM cloud technology in worldwide manufacturing and engineering projects, including automotive design. The new IBM SmartCloud Engineering Desktop consists of a group of cloud solutions designed for industrial sector clients that tap mission-critical 3D applications globally. The engineering cloud includes technology from IBM and Citrix. By incorporating Citrix XenDesktop with HDX 3D Pro, IBM can virtualize and securely deliver 3D graphics or other intensive applications and high-performing desktops. The engineers of Toyota Boshoku can now securely access their engineering data and intellectual property which is centrally stored through Desktop Cloud environment from anywhere, at anytime to share with teams around the globe. “Because of IBM’s long history of working with clients using cloud computing, we are consistently applying new knowledge gained from across a diverse and international set of customers,” said Erich Clementi, senior vice president, IBM Global Technology Services. “As a result, global clients like Toyota Boshoku continue to benefit from IBM’s unique expertise and industry focus.”
