Intel Embraces Submerging Servers in Oil :
Intel is optimizing its technology for servers immersed in oil, an approach that may soon see broader adoption in the high performance computing (HPC) sector. The chipmaker has just concluded a year-long test with immersion cooling equipment from Green Revolution Cooling, and affirmed that the technology is highly efficient and safe for servers.
Google Expands into Latin America With New Data Center in Chile 
: Google is expanding its infrastructure into South America. Today the search giant announced plans to build a $150 million data center in Quilicura, Chile. The facility will be Google’s first data center in Latin America, and continues the international expansion of the network powering Google’s growing empire of online products.
Compass Raises $45 Million Credit Line :
Compass Datacenters has completed a $45 million credit facility from KeyBank, and will use the money to finance an “aggressive” growth plan to build wholesale data centers in second-tier markets.
365 Main Buys 16 Data Centers From Equinix :
365 Main has teamed with investors to acquire 16 data centers from Equinix, returning to the data center market just two years after it sold a portfolio of facilities to Digital Realty Trust. 365 Main and backers Crosslink Capital and Housatonic Partners will pay $75 million for the facilities, which total 280,000 square feet of data center space.
Microsoft Targets Data Center With Windows Server 2012 
Microsoft (MSFT) announced the general availability of Windows Server 2012. Microsoft Server and Tools Business President Satya Nadella called Windows Server 2012 a cornerstone of the company’s “Cloud OS” strategy, providing one consistent platform across private, hosted and public clouds.
