Data Center Links: Equinix, AMS-IX, IO, AIS

AMS-IX will establish a customer PoP in Equinix’s new data center in the Amsterdam Science Park, IO selected by Simplicity Web Hosting, AIS and CtrlS Datacenters to partner.

Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

Equinix and AMS-IX expand relationship.  Equinix (EQIX) announced that it will significantly expand its operational relationship with the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX), one of the world’s largest single metro area Internet exchanges. AMS-IX will establish a customer PoP in Equinix’s new 17,800 square meter AM3 data center in the Amsterdam Science Park, scheduled to open in Q3 2012. Additional core nodes will be established by AMS-IX in existing Equinix AM1 and AM2 Amsterdam facilities. "These moves broaden and deepen our long-running relationship with Equinix, which focuses on network aggregation and interconnection to drive efficiency for our customers,” said Job Witteman, AMS-IX CEO. “Equinix’s new data center is located in the infrastructure-dense Amsterdam Science Park, which houses an exceptional concentration of IP and transport networks and fiber solutions, making it one of Europe’s key interconnection hotspots. Investing in new infrastructure both here and in the existing Equinix data center campus will enable the Amsterdam area to further develop and attract businesses that want to exchange data and optimise connectivity.”

IO selected by Simplicity Web Hosting. IO announced the company has been awarded a contract by Simplicity Web Hosting, which provides single and multiple server colocation, shared web hosting, web design, remote backup and disaster recovery plans for businesses of all sizes. Delivered from the IO Phoenix and IO New Jersey data cWe're focused on making it less complex for businesses to leverage the Internet. With IO, we're able to provide enterprise-grade technology to our customer base, but also reduce our capital investments and only purchase what we require – with new capacity delivered fast," said Rick Baranowski, President, Simplicity Web Hosting. AIS and CtrlS Datacenters partner. AIS announced CtrlS Datacenters of India has selected  AIS as a technology partner for their expansion into the United States.  AIS will be providing a hybrid cloud that fulfills CtrlS’s redundancy and procedural requirements. “CtrlS is on the leading edge of the datacenter boom in India.  As their business has taken off, their clients have expressed a desire for more global support,” said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS.  “We look forward to partnering with CtrlS to provide a hybrid cloud infrastructure tailored to their needs and supplemented with the peace-of-mind that comes from knowing our team at AIS has all the bases covered for them here in the United States.”
