Data Center Links: Equinix, Joyent, Online Tech

Equinix selected by Indonesia's Telin, Joyent Secures cloud with software-defined networking technology from Machine-To-Machine Intelligence (M2Mi), Online Tech selected by iRounds App.

Here’s our review of some of this week’s noteworthy links for the data center industry:

Equinix selected by Telin.  Equinix (EQIX) announced that PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin), Indonesia’s leading telecommunication and network provider, has selected Platform Equinix in Singapore and Hong Kong as one of its global partners to provide secure, reliable and multi-venue connectivity to its customers in Asia Pacific. Telin is part of the consortium that owns the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) cable network, which connects Southeast Asia and the United States. With a late 2012 upgrade to that network Telin will have access to capacity at a minimum of 180Gbps for its customers. “In today’s increasingly connected world, businesses see high-performance network connectivity as a critical enabler of competitive advantage in the global economy. Our global footprint and high quality of security, service and high-speed connectivity across multiple markets will help Telin build its networks and innovate for the future,” said Andrew Oon, business development director, networks and content for Equinix Asia Pacific. “This engagement adds to our broad choice of network connectivity options for customers.”

Joyent Secures cloud with M2Mi.  Joyent announced that it has selected secure software-defined networking technology (SDN) from Machine-To-Machine Intelligence (M2Mi), a global pioneer of secure network virtualization, automation, and orchestration services, to provide secure network virtualization for the Joyent Public Cloud Service Cloud Platform and M2M BYOD services. As part of a unique security offering available only to the Joyent Global Cloud Network (GCN) carrier members the M2Mi solution has been instrumented for Joyent's SmartDataCenter, giving users immediate access to orchestration and agility across the entire cloud infrastructure. "Mobile network carriers on the Global Cloud Network not only demand performance, security and data integrity from a cloud infrastructure provider, but all require real time instrumentation," said James Blom, Vice President, Mobile Alliances & Technology Partnerships, Joyent GCN. "M2Mi is the universal translator between our members' networks and security because it meets their stringent security requirements and allows for secure -- and quick -- data movement across multiple clouds, while enforcing compliance and SLA policies. It offers end-to-end security without requiring users to conform to a single network architecture."

Online Tech selected by iRounds App. Online Tech announced that mobile and web platform provider iRounds has selected Online Tech as their trusted hosting business associate. Looking for cloud providers that could fulfill the security, compliance and availability requirements to protect ePHI (electronic protected health information), iRounds selected Online Tech as an independently HIPAA audited managed cloud provider. "We were impressed with Online Tech’s heavy investment in acquiring an independent HIPAA audit,” said Kurian Thott, Chief Executive Officer of iRounds.  “It made us confident that Online Tech met all of the HIPAA requirements."
