Marvell and OnLive partner for Cloud Gaming. Marvell (MRVL) announced that OnLive is using the ARMADA 1500 HD Media SoC to power on-demand gaming in Google TVs and Google TV devices. OnLive delivers hundreds of high-end video games directly from the cloud to PCs, Macs, TVs, tablets and now, leveraging the ARMADA 1500 chipset, to Google TV, with no game console necessary. The ARMADA 1500 features a dual-core CPU with more than 6,000 MIPS of computing horsepower, and features Qdeo video processing technology with support for 3DTV. “I believe this is a major breakthrough that demonstrates Google TV’s progress in addressing the interactive big screen for any type of live content. We are thrilled to collaborate with OnLive in transforming any TV with gaming capabilities,” said Weili Dai, Co-Founder of Marvell. “Together with our customers and partners across the ecosystem, Marvell is leading and driving a new era of the digital lifestyle by seamlessly delivering all the interactive content to any screen and devices with better performance, affordability and versatility for the mass markets.”
Tilera and MikroTik launch 36-core cloud core router. MikroTik announced that it has selected Tilera’s 64-bit TILE-Gx processor to power its new flagship Cloud Core Router (CCR) family. MikroTik selected the TILE-Gx processor to power its 36-core Cloud Core Router, as it provided unparalleled performance and a significant number of integrated I/O ports coupled with the flexibility to integrate multiple functions into a single SoC (system-on-chip) solution. “Our customers will have all the hallmarks of MikroTik-branded products, the RouterOS software, and a very high performance platform to expand their network capabilities,” said John Tully, CEO, MikroTik. “The TILE-Gx processor was an obvious choice. Its unique combination of high performance, unparalleled integration and overall ease of programmability helped us get to production in record time."
Juniper selected by Telefonica. Juniper Networks (JNPR) announced that Telefónica Digital has selected Juniper Networks Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite to create a branded mobile security service for its consumer customer base across Europe. Initial European rollout will focus on the British, German and Spanish markets where Telefónica will offer Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite under its own brand names, with cloud-based software service management hosted by Juniper Networks. "Smartphones are now ubiquitous, with many customers using them to store sensitive personal data and access not only messaging and social networks but also key applications such as online banking, and to remotely connect to corporate networks," said Jose Perdomo, managing director, Security and eHealth Area, Telefónica Digital. "We consider the provisioning of reliable, intelligent and easy-to-use protection as a key differentiator, and a real enabler of the mobile revolution. Juniper Networks Junos Pulse Mobile Security Suite is unique in its ability to provide pervasive protection at the hand-held device level against emerging malware, device and data loss/theft, as well as enable child safety and parental control. It enables Telefónica to provide a homogenous, cost-effective service that supports numerous devices for the mass market helping us better protect our customers and our network."
