AFCOM, a leading association for data center management professionals, delivered a study on Disaster Recover & Business Contingency that found that while almost 1 in 5 data centers have experienced a physical disaster in the past three years, and a similar number admit to not testing their plan during this same period. Those findings prompted AFCOM's Data Center Institute to publish a "wake up call" for data center operator.

“A 2011 study conducted by AFCOM, found that most data centers are not adequately prepared for disaster recovery or defense against cyber crimes,” said Jill Yaoz, president of the AFCOM association and chairperson of Data Center World. “Our Data Center Institute report discovered that many data centers either don’t have a plan in place or don’t update and test those plans regularly.  Our selection of Winn Schwartau as the keynote speaker at Data Center World 2012 highlights the critical need for our industry to be prepared for the worst.”

Schwartau, a Nashville resident, is recognized as one of the world's top experts on security, privacy, infowar, cyber-terrorism and related topics and he has testified before Congress and consulted as an expert witness.
