NJVC, which specializes in IT services for government agencies, is expanding its infrastructure with a new data center in Richmond, Virginia, where it will host customers inside a 1.3 million square foot data center campus. The new facility is part of NJVC's effort to develop a geographically diverse data center footprint, which the company said will protect its customers' data from weather-related outages like the recent incidents in northern Virginia.
NJVC, which is a major provider of IT services for the Department of Defense, said it also expects to open a new data center in Reno, Nevada in July. The company is headquartered in Vienna, Va. and has multiple data centers in the St. Louis market. NJVC manages its facilities using a "data center within a data center" approach with strategic infrastructure suppliers.
"The new NJVC data center hosting, data storage and software-as-a service (SaaS) support programs add a new dimension to the company’s data center services’ offerings and its ability to provide enhanced services to customers," said Jody Tedesco, NJVC president. “The NJVC strategy focuses on customers that have high security requirements, such as the federal government and commercial companies in markets ranging from healthcare to financial services and energy. This strategy is designed to maximize the use of assets and optimize human capital to ensure that NJVC can deliver the performance, specialized support services and ultra reliability to meet customer demands in the most cost-effective manner possible.”
NJVC offers customized IT services for federal government customers, developed through years of experience providing data center support for the defense and intelligence communities. NJVC offers these customers an array of managed services that reduce the burden of maintaining a secure infrastructure for complex application environments, while ensuring operations comply with current regulations and defend against continuously changing cyber security threats.
The company noted that its new facility is housed within a hardened, high-performance data center in Richmond, where the campus is protected by an energized fence, vehicle barriers that comply with the government's K-12 rating, a visitor screening facility featuring metal detection and x-ray scanning, video security monitoring, and a central command center with 24x7x365 security staff and armed security officers.
NJVC operates a specialized service stack inside the facility that can meet requirements/regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA), Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements No. 16, Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards, Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) High or Moderate, and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
