The Red Hat Summit
2012 is underway this week in Boston and the company has announced an acquisition of FuseSource, and a comprehensive portfolio of open Hybrid Cloud Solutions.
Red Hat (RHT) announced
a set of solutions that the company plans to roll out in the coming months that are based on Red Hat products and technologies and are designed to enable enterprises to build and manage open hybrid clouds. OpenShift Enterprise PaaS combines Red Hat CloudForms, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and JBoss Enterprise Middleware to build an ITOps PaaS that is designed to deliver the speed and agility of PaaS desired by enterprise developers while addressing the governance and operational requirements of enterprise IT in an open and hybrid cloud.
Red Hat’s IaaS solution is an open hybrid cloud solution for enterprises that offers the software needed to deploy and manage a hybrid cloud, including virtualization management with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization. It also includes cloud management, governed self-service and systems management with Red Hat CloudForms, and guest operating system with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. A Cloud with virtualization bundle will aid in moving to the cloud quickly, by combining Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization and Cloud Forms.
“Cloud computing has introduced a new era of IT and has brought enterprises to their most critical IT strategy decision this decade,” said Paul Cormier, president, Products and Technologies at Red Hat. “We strongly believe that enterprises need to embrace an open hybrid cloud approach, combining all their existing resources into their cloud infrastructures, crossing physical, virtual and public cloud resources. Today, Red Hat takes a huge step forward in enabling our enterprise customers with the technologies and solutions they need to build and manage open hybrid clouds.”
Red Hat Storage
Red Hat Storage is open source storage software to manage unstructured data, and is generally available with Red Hat Storage Server 2.0. It debuts with a strong ecosystem of industry-leading partners, including Cisco, Groupware, Intel, Mainline and Synnex. “More customers are looking for scale-out, distributed storage for data analytics, archive and cloud applications, said Mark Balch, director, Data Center Group, Cisco. ”Cisco is working with Red Hat and other storage solution vendors to deliver high-performance, rapidly deployable datacenter infrastructure built on the Cisco Unified Computing System to meet these increasing needs.”
Red Hat Storage is available today, with other hybrid solutions coming in the Summer 2012.
Red Hat announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire FuseSource from Progress Software Corporation. FuseSource, a provider of open source integration and messaging, will enable Red Hat to accelerate the delivery of application integration products and services to enterprise customers. FuseSource serves many Fortune 500 companies with open source integration and open source messaging products based on Apache ServiceMix, Apache ActiveMQ, Apache CFX, and Apache Camel. This technology complements the JBoss product line and will move Red Hat closer to the next generation of application integration products.
“Application integration software is one of the fastest growing segments of the enterprise software market,” said Craig Muzilla, vice president and general manager of middleware at Red Hat. “As cloud computing becomes more prevalent, enterprise customers are demanding greater application integration to enable seamless use of cloud computing. With the addition of FuseSource to our middleware portfolio, we will enable customers to experience greater integration capabilities and flexibility. FuseSource’s technologies, expertise, and commitment to open source make them a great fit.”
