Earlier this month HP opened the doors to its Aurora Data Centre, a new mission-critical site serving enterprise customers in Sydney, Australia.

HP Enterprise Services will deliver a comprehensive range of IT services from the Aurora facility, including HP Cloud Services for enterprises and governments, as well as disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.

"With the opening of this state-of-the-art data centre, HP has demonstrated its commitment to Australia, home to one of the world’s top 10 financial centres and a growing base for multinational companies," said Stephen Conroy, Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy for the Australian Federal Government. "This investment will put Australia at the forefront of the digital economy, supporting new local and regional high-tech infrastructure services."

“Enterprise and government agencies around the world are facing smaller budgets while trying to enhance value to customers and citizens,” said Alan Bennett, vice president, HP Enterprise Services—South Pacific. “Utilising a facility like HP’s Aurora Data Centre with world-class power efficiency and design will help them to better control and manage their technology infrastructure and adapt to meet future enterprise requirements.”

HP has signed several agreements with major Australian government and enterprise organisations to support their IT strategy with services delivered from the Aurora Data Centre.

  • Downer EDI Limited, an Australian-based engineering and infrastructure management services company. HP will help Downer streamline its existing IT facilities and systems into a single virtual data centre, operating system and network.
  • Rural services and automotive company Elders Australia Ltd. will use cloud technology, including infrastructure and applications services, to cost-effectively deploy its enterprise technology transformation program.
  • Origin, a leading Australian integrated energy company, has chosen HP Enterprise Services to modernise its IT infrastructure to support business expansion.

“Outsourcing to HP is a core part of our transformation program,” said Shaun Hughes, chief information officer, Elders Australia Ltd. “HP’s cloud services will provide us with a robust infrastructure and service delivery model that enables us to scale up for each of our program releases when we are ready to. As a result, we can de-risk the legacy development components of our build.”
