Interxion to build second Madrid data center. Interxion (INXN) announced that, in response to growing demand from its customers, the company is building its second data center in Madrid (MAD2). MAD2 will be constructed in two phases, each phase providing 800 square metres (8,611 square feet) of equipped space and over 1.2 MW of customer power. “This new build is in response to a strong and growing pipeline of demand in the Madrid metropolitan area from high power application providers, including cloud services, digital media, and other connectivity driven IT services,” said David Ruberg, Interxion’s Chief Executive Officer. “As the Spanish market leader and the only pan-European carrier neutral data centre operator in the country, Interxion is ideally placed to meet this demand.” The capital expenditures for phase 1 of MAD2 are expected to total approximately €10 million (~$12.5 million) at full capacity and full power.
AIS expands in Phoenix with Digital Realty. American Internet Services (AIS) announced it signed an agreement with Digital Realty Trust, to expand its presence in the Van Buren facility located in Phoenix, Arizona. This facility plays a key role in the AIS vCloudOne infrastructure-as-a-service offering. The AIS Van Buren data center recently completed the SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 and the SSAE 16 SOC 2 Type 2 audits. “As a leading provider of data center solutions, it has been a pleasure to work with AIS as it grows its business beyond retail colocation to include value-added services such as turnkey disaster recovery solutions and cloud offerings,” said Michael Foust, chief executive officer of Digital Realty. “We are committed to partnering with our customers for the long-term and are pleased to be able to support the growth of AIS in the Phoenix market.”
CoreLink selected by United Conveyor. CoreLink announced the addition of United Conveyor Corp. (UCC) to its growing roster of clients.UCC will be served a full suite of transparent hosting and managed service offerings from CoreLink's Chicago data center. “CoreLink exceeds all of our data and managed services requirements, most importantly as it relates to ensuring customer data safety and integrity,” said Peter Szoke, UCC IT Manager. “In addition to its geographic proximity to our headquarters facility, CoreLink’s well-designed and secure Chicago data center provides easy access to equipment and has an easily scalable infrastructure supporting anywhere from one rack to several, in a cage or private suite."
Online Tech selected by Freedom Imaging. Online Tech announced that Freedom Imaging Systems has selected Online Tech’s HIPAA compliant data center for colocation services to store their clients’ data and image files. Many of Freedom’s clients store sensitive information such as ePHI (electronic protected health information) in their files, so security was a critical factor for Freedom in their selection of a hosting partner. "When it came to searching for a hosting provider, I was looking for a known entity with a positive reputation," said Dave Gillis, CEO and President of Freedom Imaging Systems.
