In April, about 400 developers attended OpenStack[1] Design Summit, which was held in San Francisco, and more than 1,000 people turned out for the related conference event. This convening occurred shortly after the release of the Essex version of OpenStack OS. OpenStack is open source software for building public and private clouds, and it is gaining in momentum in the cloud and open source community. At the Open Compute Summit at Rackspace in San Antonio, Data Center Knowledge caught up with Mark Collier, VP, Marketing and Business Development, Rackspace, and Jonathan Bryce, OpenStack Project Policy Board and co-founder, Rackspace Cloud, for an overview of the event and what’s ahead for the next release Folsom. Folsom is anticipated to have a rollout of a more mature cloud networking component called Quantum. The video is 6 minutes.
