• Modular Monday: Closer Look at 4 Offerings

One of the key features of The Uptime Symposium was the Modular Data Center Campus, a section of the expo hall which featured full-size products from four providers of pre-fabricated modular infrastructure. To provide our readers with better understanding of this emerging product sector, the Data Center Knowledge staff conducted video overviews and walk-throughs of each of the modules.

Active Power PowerHouse: An infrastructure module featuring a rotary UPS (flywheel) system and a generator to support an IT module or expand the power capacity of traditional data center space.

Schneider Electric: An electrical power module, part of several containerized infrastructure modules from Schneider Electric.

IO.Anywhere: An IT module from IO that can be incorporated into a larger system of modules to provide power and cooling support infrastructure.

Digital Realty POD Architecture 2.0: A pre-fabricated power room that is built in a factory and delivered, shrink-wrapped, to a customer’s site.

The Uptime Symposium also featured extensive discussion of the economics of moular data centers, which is summarized at Uptime: Modular Design Offers CapEx Savings. For more of our coverage of modular designs, check out our Modular Data Centers Channel.
