More than 3,500 participants have registered to attend the 4th Annual Cloud Computing World Forum scheduled for June 12-13 at Earls Court, London.
Eight theatres, including dedicated Microsoft and Google streams, will be the venue for discussions and learning sessions on how enterprise technology is affecting organisations operating across all business sectors.
On June 12, Amazon CTO Werner Vogels will deliver a keynote on enterprise cloud computing, including the importance of Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure on global cloud adoption and the process of building infrastructure for big data. He will also discuss how Amazon's infrastructure affects the enterprises using it. Vogels is vice president and chief technology officer at Amazon.com, where he is responsible for driving the company's technology vision, continuously enhancing and innovating technology on behalf of Amazon's customers at a global scale.
On the next day, the European Commission’s Acting Deputy Director General (INFSO) Megan Richards will present the results of the EU's Digital Agenda for Europe. She will outline the recommendations for developing a successful European cloud policy, and present key findings from the consultations. The Digital Agenda, which Ms. Richards is a key catalyst in delivering, has made cloud computing a top priority in the last 12 months, as it aims to ensure EU nations are able to maximise the business and economic benefits cloud can bring.
“Cloud computing has the potential to permit access to information technologies to develop into another 'utility' like electricity and gas. Using information technology services in such a way will bring benefits and cost reductions to users (in particular smaller users), helping them to develop and drive growth,” said Richards.
“But what does it mean for Europe? How will we stimulate the take-up and use of cloud computing on the continent, and what are the challenges that need to be addressed in doing so? These are all vital questions we have to focus on,” she added.
Participants may attend sessions featuring more than 150 speakers representing leading organisations in the industry.
