ScienceLogic, which makes software to manage data center operations and cloud platforms, has secured $15 million in Series B funding led by Intel Capital, the company said today. ScienceLogic also named John Becker as its new CEO to oversee the next stage in the company’s growth. Previous CEO and co-founder David Link will remain as chairman of the board.

The announcement is the latest in a series of venture capital investments in infrastructure and cloud management over the past year, including fundings for Puppet ($8.5 million) , Opscode ($19 million), CiRBA ($15 million), Vigilent ($6.7 million), SynapSense ($16 million), Sentilla ($15 million) and Fieldview ($2 million).

ScienceLogic will use the capital to fund global sales expansion, marketing and development of its technology. The investment from Intel Capital and previous investor New Enterprise Associates (NEA) brings ScienceLogic’s total financing to $30 million.

“Both Intel Capital and NEA understand that as organizations move infrastructure and services to the cloud, it’s critical to have unified, dynamic management of IT service delivery across all computing and application resources used no matter where they reside,” said Becker. “This is an opportune time to join ScienceLogic with its continued growth and strong backing from NEA and new investor Intel Capital. We see this as confirmation of the strength of our platform and our superior approach to IT management in the 21st century. I’m honored to be leading this talented team during this dynamic time in the company’s history.”

Becker is a seasoned technology executive with more than 30 years of experience. Previously, he was CEO of Approva Corporation, where his leadership was instrumental in the company’s acquisition by Lawson Software.

“John has a tremendous track record of capitalizing on strategic market opportunities and leading his companies to prominence, so ScienceLogic is fortunate to have attracted someone of his caliber at this stage of our development,” said Link. “I’m looking forward to working closely with him on our long-term vision to take the company to the next level of growth and profitability.”

The ScienceLogic platform integrates core IT infrastructure management functions in one product, providing a view of service quality across physical, virtual and cloud computing resources.
