Open Data Center Alliance to Meet in New York

The Open Data Center Alliance announced three tracks -- Cloud Storm, Cloud Ceiling, and Cloud Formation -- for its one-day event, Forecast 2012: Shaping the Future of Cloud Computing, during the 10th International Cloud Expo on June 12.

The Open Data Center Alliance (ODCA) will host its one-day Forecast 2012: Shaping the Future of Cloud Computing conference, during the 10th International Cloud Expo on June 12 in New York at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center.

Overall keynote presenter will be Curt Aubley, Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer of Cyber Security & NexGen Innovations for Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services, who is also president of ODCA. The steering committee for ODCA includes representatives from leading organizations: Lockheed Martin, BMW, Capgemini, China Life, China Unicom, Deutsche Bank, JPMorgan Chase, Marriott International, Inc., National Australia Bank, Terremark, The Walt Diseny Co., and UBS. Intel Corporation serves as a technical advisor to the organization.

The one-day event will feature:
• A discussion of Open Data Center Alliance developed usage models for cloud computing
• Best practices from industry leaders in cloud computing and reports on proof-of-concept projects
• The latest on collaborations around cloud computing

Three focused topic tracks will be offered: Cloud Storm: Top Challenges Facing Widespread Deployments - Andrew Stokes, Chief Infrastructure Architect at Deutsche Bank, will kick off this track; Cloud Ceiling: Sharing Best Practices from Leading Innovators - Petteri Uljas, Head of Infrastructure Services, India, Eastern Europe and Latin America at CapGemini and CEO of Capgemini Finland, will present this track's keynote.; and Cloud Formation: Delivery of Open Cloud Solutions - Jason Waxman, General Manager, Cloud Infrastructure Group (CIG) at Intel, will head up this track.

The Open Data Center Alliance is a customer-driven organization that delivers unified requirements for the deployment of open, interoperable cloud solutions. Formed October 2010 as a “vendor agnostic” consortium, it aims to use the collective buying power of its members to shape technical requirements for data center and cloud infrastructure based on open, interoperable solutions. The group now has 300 members and claims annual IT buying power in excess of $100 billion.
