Tier 3 Creates Federated Cloud - Tier 3, Inc. today made its Enterprise Cloud Platform (ECP) virtual private cloud software available to the service provider market, creating the Tier 3 Federated Cloud. CFN Services, a leading provider of high performance network and application delivery solutions, is the first partner to leverage the Tier 3 platform to create a Global Financial Services Cloud. Tier 3 is now offering a global fabric of elastic cloud services created through the federation of service provider nodes all running the Tier 3 Enterprise Cloud Platform. To join the federation, a service provider brings a node anywhere in the world to be managed by Tier 3. Data Center Revitalizes Omaha Building - Inside the shell of an office building in downtown Omaha, a local company is transforming the guts of the facility into a commercial data center. The Nebraska Colocation Center taking shape in downtown Omaha will open with 12,000 square feet of space. The facility at 1623 Farnam St. already is home to the city’s primary carrierhHotel, where major telecom companies in Nebraska meet, connect and swap traffic through a convergence of underground cables in a “meet me room.” The ability of businesses to host their servers remotely while having the option to connect with all of Nebraska’s major telco firms is a key selling point for downtown Omaha’s first multitenant data center. IO to Host St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance - Modular data center provider IO said today that it has been awarded a contract with St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance. As part of the agreement, IO will provide St. Mary's with Data Center as a Service (DCaaS) at IO Phoenix, delivered through its modular technology platform IO.Anywhere. "We selected IO as our colocation services provider for many reasons but primarily because we gain a strategic local partner in a true "one-stop shop" environment," said Jay R. Internap Awarded LEED Certification in Santa Clara - Internap Network Services (NASDAQ: INAP) announced that its Santa Clara data center has been awarded LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED is one of the primary rating systems for the design, construction and operation of energy-efficient buildings. In addition to receiving LEED certification, Internap’s Santa Clara data center became the first commercial data center in the U.S. to achieve the Green Building Initiative’s Green Globe certification in June 2011. CoreLink Data Centers Completes SSAE 16 Audit - CoreLink Data Centers, LLC has completed an SSAE 16 audit at its colocation facilities. The Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements (SSAE) No. 16 addresses a service organization's, such as a data center, internal controls. CoreLink had previously completed the SAS70 Type II audit and updated its standing by engaging in these more rigorous and in-depth audits conducted by an internationally recognized auditing firm.
