Report: Federal CTO Aneesh Chopra Departing

It looks like there’s another departure for a high-profile technology leader in the federal government. U.S. Chief Technology Office Aneesh Chopra has decided to step down, with a formal announcement expected later today. Chopra was appointed in April 2009 [1] after serving as secretary of technology for the state of Virginia.

It’s not yet known where Chopra is headed, or who will succeed him as the government’s CTO.

Chopra’s departure follows the exit of federal CIO Vivek Kundra [2] last June. Kundra initially took a fellowship at Harvard, but was recetnly appointed executive vice president of emerging markets at Salesforce.com [3].
