For your weekend reading, here’s a recap of five noteworthy stories that appeared on Data Center Knowledge this past week:

Focus on Fans Delivers Cost Savings on Cooling - Experts in data center cooling said Friday that minor adjustments to fan speed in air handling units can yield major savings, and in many cases can be more cost-effective than installing containment systems to control  airflow. New approaches could make it cheaper and easier for older data centers to improve the efficiency of their cooling systems, according to panelists at last week’s Data Center Efficiency Summit.

Google to Expand Oregon Data Center Campus - Google has gained approvals to build an additional structure on its data center campus at The Dalles, Oregon, according to local media. The company plans to build a 15,000 square foot “data storage warehouse” on its property at The Dalles, according to The Oregonian.

Latisys Expands With New Data Center in Denver - Data center service provider Latisys has announced a major expansion in the the Denver market, where it will build a second data center to add 14 megawatts of capacity for mission-critical space. The new 82,000 square feet facility in Englewood will more than double the company’s current data center footprint in Colorado.

Digital Realty Signs Anchor Tenant in Melbourne - National Australia Bank has signed a lease for 5,000 square meters (54,000 square feet) of Turn-Key Datacenter space in a new data center being built in Melbourne by Digital Realty Trust (DLR). The lease was signed in the fourth quarter of 2011, and the new space is scheduled for completion in early 2013.
